Forging

Forging is a process in which material is shaped by the application of localized compressive forces exerted manually or with power hammers, presses or special forging machines. The process may be carried out on materials in either hot or cold state. When forging is done cold, processes are given special names. Therefore, the term forging usually implies hot forging carried out at temperatures which are above the recrystallization temperature of the material.

Forging is an effective method of producing many useful shapes. The process is generally used to produce discrete parts. Typical forged parts include rivets, bolts, crane hooks, connecting rods, gears, turbine shafts, hand tools, railroads, and a variety of structural components used to manufacture machinery. The forged parts have good strength and toughness; they can be used reliably for highly stressed and critical applications.

A variety of forging processes have been developed that can be used for either producing a single piece or mass – produce hundreds of identical parts. Some common forging processes are:

6. Roll forging


Branch Reinforced Fittings

BUTTWELD OUTLETS (DF-WOL)

DF WOL is a 90° branch fitting connection, designed to ensure integral reinforcement. Dimensions of DF WELD are in accordance with MSS SP-97.DF WELD can be manufactured according to customer’s special design. DF WELD is “set on” branch reinforced fitting.


SOCKETWELD OUTLETS (DF-SOCK)

DF SOCK is a 90° branch fitting connection having the main dimensions of DF WELD but only the header end is chamfered. The branch end has a socket inside the branch reinforced fitting.Dimensions of DF SOCK are in accordance with MSS SP-97.
DF SOCK can be manufactured according to customer’s special design.DF SOCK is available for classes 3000, 6000 and 9000 for high pressure.

THREADED OUTLETS (DF-THD)

DF THD is a 90° branch fitting connection having the main dimensions of DF WELD but only the header end is chamfered. The branch end have a threaded socket inside the branch reinforced fitting. Dimensions of DF THREAD are in accordance with MSS SP-97.

DF THREAD can be manufactured according to customer’s special design.
DF THREAD is available for classes 3000, 6000 and 9000 for high pressure.
DF THREAD is “set on” branch reinforced fitting.


LATERAL OUTLETS (DF-LAT)

DF LAT is a 45° branch fitting connection, designed to ensure integral reinforcement.
Dimensions of DF LAT are in accordance with MSS SP-97.
DF LAT can be manufactured according to customer’s special design.
DF LAT is available for butt weld, socket weld and threaded for classes 3000, 6000 and 9000 for high pressure.
DF LAT is “set on” branch reinforced fitting.


DF-ELB

DF ELB is a 90° long/short radius fitting connection designed to ensure integral reinforcement.
Dimensions of DF ELB are in accordance with DF’s standard.
DF ELB can be manufactured according to customer’s special design.
It’s available for butt weld, socket weld and threaded for classes 3000, 6000 and 9000 for high pressure.
DF ELB is “set on” branch reinforced fitting.


DF NIP-FLANGED

DF NIPOFLANGE is a 90° branch fitting connection.
DF NIPOFLANGE is an integral branch reinforce fitting composed by a DF WELD, PIPE NIPPLE and a welding neck flange.
DF NIPOFLANGE is “set on” branch reinforced fitting.


DF-SWEEP

DF SWEEP is a 90° branch fitting connection designed to ensure integral reinforcement.
Dimensions of DF SWEEP are in accordance with DF’s standard.
DF SWEEP is “set in” branch reinforced fitting.
DF SWEEP allows the 100% radiographic control of welds after installation on main header pipe.


DF-SWEEP 45°

DF SWEEP 45° is a 45° branch fitting connection designed to ensure integral reinforcement.
Dimensions of DF SWEEP 45° are in accordance with DF’s standard.
DF SWEEP 45° is “set in” branch reinforced fitting.
DF SWEEP 45° allows the 100% radiographic control of welds after installation on main header pipe.


DESIGN STANDARDS


Donnell Forge branch connections are designed fully in accordance with related Codes. Usually, ANSI B. 31 (3, 4, 8) are followed but on Customer's request. other Codes/Standards can be observed. Dimensions and finish are also meeting ANSI Std. B 36.10 and 19, for pipes, and B 16.25 for butt-welds. Socket dimensions and threads are in accordance with ANSI B 16.11 and B 1.20.1 respectively. Dimensions per DIN. AFNOR, etc. can be followed on special request. For each Std./Code, verifications data drawings can be available within 15 days from order reception as well as material certificates, generally to ASTM specs, rovided a proper request is made, preferably on the enquiry stage.

EXAGONAL BUSHING is a forged fittings manufactured in accordance with B16.11.
EXAGONAL BUSHING is a fitting used to joint two threaded items of different size.


TEE

TEE is a forged fitting used for splitting and changing flow direction of run pipe of 90° deg. It is available in two categories:


TEE can be manufactured with butt-weld extremities, socket extremities or threaded extremities.
Dimensions of TEE can be in accordance with ASME B16.9, MSS SP-75.
TEE can be manufactured on customer’s request with a special design.


COUPLING

COUPLING is a forged fittings manufactured in accordance with B16.11.
A COUPLING is a fitting that allows two pipes to be joint together.
A COUPLING can per manufactured with socket-weld extremities, threaded extremities or a combination of the two.


HALF-COUPLING

HALF-COUPLING is a forged fittings manufactured in accordance with B16.11.
A HALF-COUPLING is a fitting that allows one pipe and one fitting to be joint together.
A HALF-COUPLING can per manufactured with socket-weld extremity or threaded extremity.
